Who We Are
About Disciples Table AME Church
A new church plant rooted in the rich heritage of the African Methodist Episcopal tradition — gathering in the Fulshear, Richmond, Katy, and Houston area.
Our Beginnings
Our Story
Disciples Table AME Church was born out of a calling to plant a new expression of the African Methodist Episcopal Church in the rapidly growing communities of Fulshear, Richmond, and Katy, Texas.
We are a church that gathers around the table — the communion table, the dinner table, the community table. We believe that Jesus meets us in the breaking of bread, in honest conversation, and in shared life together.
As a new church plant, we are building something together — a community of faith that is rooted in the AME tradition, responsive to the needs of our neighbors, and committed to following Jesus in every area of life.
Our Mission
To make disciples of Jesus Christ who transform the world.
A thriving, diverse community of faith in the Houston area — where every person finds a place at the table, grows in the way of Jesus, and serves their neighbors with love and justice.
"Come to the Table. Follow Jesus. Transform the World."
What Drives Us
Our Core Values
Discipleship
Growing as followers of Jesus — learning, practicing, and living out his teachings in daily life.
Evangelism
Sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with our neighbors, our city, and the world.
Community
Faith lived together — gathering, eating, serving, and growing as one family at the table.
Worship
Offering our whole selves to God in praise, prayer, and adoration — in gathered worship and everyday life.
Social Justice
Standing for equity, dignity, and justice for all people — especially the marginalized and overlooked.
Our Faith
What We Believe
We hold to the historic Christian faith as expressed in the Wesleyan-Methodist tradition.
The Bible
We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God, the only sufficient rule of faith and practice.
The Trinity
We believe in one God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — three persons in one divine being, the Creator and Sustainer of all things.
Jesus Christ
We believe in the full humanity and full divinity of Jesus Christ, his atoning death, bodily resurrection, and coming again in glory.
Salvation by Grace
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone — available to all who repent and believe.
The Church
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, called to worship, grow, serve, and bear witness to the Kingdom of God in the world.
Social Justice
We believe that faith without works is dead — and that the Gospel compels us to pursue justice, equity, and dignity for all people.
Our Roots
Our AME Heritage
Standing on the shoulders of giants.
The African Methodist Episcopal Church was founded in 1816 by Bishop Richard Allen in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — born out of a refusal to accept racial segregation in worship. It is the oldest independent Protestant denomination founded by African Americans.
For over 200 years, the AME Church has been a pillar of faith, freedom, education, and social justice in the African American community and beyond. From the Underground Railroad to the Civil Rights Movement, the AME Church has stood on the right side of history.
Disciples Table AME Church carries this legacy forward — honoring the past, engaging the present, and building toward a future where all people are welcomed, valued, and free.
